Basically the ACI is a way of connecting people living in Bonnie Doon to the larger community. Each block will have a Block Connector who acts as liaison between their block and the rest of Bonnie Doon. A Block Connector has conversations with each resident of their block about that member’s vision for Bonnie Doon – skills and gifts they might offer to the community, needs they may have that the community might be able to meet, etc.
The end result will be a community that is better able to utilize all the wonderful things that Bonnie Dooners have to offer – the piano teacher down the street, the cyclist on the next block, the teenager ready to start babysitting, etc. Those who may need help with shoveling, mowing, etc, will be able to access local resources in a way that might otherwise be difficult or impossible.
The ACI will also help the Bonnie Doon Community League recognize potential programming that Bonnie Dooners could utilize – for example, if many of us expresses interest in a CPR class, the league could potentially offer it.
While many of our neighbours have volunteered to be the Connector for their block, there are still more needed. If you feel passionately about your neighbourhood, and think that you would make a good Connector for your block, please contact Bonnie Doon’s Connecter Coordinator at abundant@bonniedoon.ca. Or write to us if you have ideas or questions about building relationships here in Bonnie Doon!
