A group of residents from Bonnie Doon are interested in sponsoring a refugee family from Syria. Like so many other Canadians, they have watched the refugee crisis in Syria and wanted to do something to help. They have met a couple of times to discuss sponsoring a family as a community-based project, with Bonnie Dooners coming together to offer support. The response has been enthusiastic. A representative from Mennonite Central Committee Alberta, the refugee sponsorship agreement holder, attended one of the group’s meetings to answer questions and was very supportive of the group’s plans.
