Leagues on the Line
All aboard! Join us for Leagues on the Line on Saturday, June 1, 2024. With the Valley Line LRT now fully operational, your local community leagues invite you to experience the train while exploring your neighbourhood. Hop on and off the train between noon and 3 pm on Saturday, June 1 to enjoy free family fun and activities.
Everyone is invited to the back deck concert venue of Strathearn’s Community Hall and enjoy a free concert between 2:30 - 5 p.m. Enjoy the musical stylings of local band sensations Sudden Love, and our headliners, Melafrique. See you there!

Riding the Valley Line LRT
On Saturdays, the train arrives every 10 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the station and are valid for 90 minutes. Please note, regular transit fares and schedules apply. We also have a limited number of free Arc Cards available at each stop. These cards are reloadable and money can be added at each LRT stop and online. Get your very own Leagues on the Line passport. Grab a passport from any stop and start collecting stickers as you make your way to each station.
Avonmore Community League -–Noon to 3 pm
Venue: Avonmore Hall and grounds, 7902 73 Avenue, just a few blocks to the east of the Avonmore LRT stop.
Activities: Tacos in a Bag plus cookies for lunch! Free coffee from local business partner Candid Coffee Roasters. See Metis jingle dancing and learn how the dresses are made. Membership table, history quiz with prizes, community survey with giveaways for completion, sparkle tattoos, Zoe’s animal rescue adoptable animals, and Avonmore’s Spray Park.
Bonnie Doon and Idylwylde Community Leagues – Noon to 3 pm
Venue: Bonnie Doon Centre parking lot near the overhead shade just west of the LRT stop. Organized in partnership between Bonnie Doon and Idylwylde leagues (aka Bonniewylde).
Activities: Face painting, crafts for kids (courtesy Idylwylde Library), carpet bowling, music by Tamarack Cunningham, cookies from Hazeldean Bakery.
Cloverdale Community League – Noon to 3 pm
Venue: The concrete plaza area beside the Muttart LRT station, the nearby gazebo parkland area and Cafe Bloom outdoor courtyard.
Activities: Singer/ Songwriter Doug Robb will perform. Sidewalk chalk activities and face painting or balloon animals. Lemonade.
Holyrood Community League – Noon to 3 pm
Venue: St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 8424 95 Ave. Outside on the front/side lawn.
Activities: Free Indigenous food - Bannock dogs from TeePee Treats, Indigenous dancer Anita Cardinal, Indigenous singer & songwriter Curt Young, Indigenous traditional games, glitter tattoos. Kids clothing sale, ages 0 - 12 - all items $1.
Strathearn Community League – 1 to 5pm
Venue: Strathearn Hall, 9511 90 Street/back deck onto Silver Heights Park.
Activities: From 1-3pm there will be Disc Golf in the rink, bike tune-ups, community garden tours, and free cotton candy. We will also have tables for the Valley Line LRT Street Team, Edmonton Heritage Council, Councillor Ashley Salvador, 4b Harm Reduction Naloxone training, and the Edmonton Transit Riders. From 2:30-5pm there will be a free outdoor concert featuring local bands Sudden Love and Melafrique who will play on the back deck. During the concert, ice cream from Little Bear Gelato and a trivia concert that people can play using their own smartphones.
