For those new to our program, here’s Bonnie Doon’s outdoor soccer program in a nutshell:
- Runs roughly from the first week of May to the last week of June.
- Is based on age groupings (Under 5, 7, 9, etc.); boys and girls play together until U9.
- Has two games per week, on either Mon-Wed or Tue-Thur.
- Younger age groups have games involving teams from the same and adjacent neighbourhoods. Older groups (U11 and up) include potential travel to Mill Woods, other Edmonton zones and Beaumont.
- Has games involving teams from the same and adjacent neighbourhoods.
- Relies on parents and other community volunteers for coaches and managers.

Indoor Soccer Program
For those new to the program, here’s the Southeast Zone's community indoor soccer program in a nutshell:
For those new to the program, here’s the Southeast Zone's community indoor soccer program in a nutshell:
- Runs roughly from mid-October to end of February
- Options for teams to try and make city finals and beyond
- Is based on age groupings (Under 5, 7, 9, etc.); boys and girls play together until U9
- Has one game per week, on either Saturday or Sunday, and for U7 and older, one practice per week
- All games are played at one of the City's indoor soccer centres (west, east, south)
- Relies on parents and other community volunteers for coaches, managers and coordinating activities
- Offers mandatory, licensed training for coaches
- Is affordable and sponsorships are available on a case-by-case basis
- Is a great way to meet other children and families in our neighbourhood
Soccer Volunteer Roles
We have built up a great program in Bonnie Doon over the years thanks to fantastic directors, coaches and referees. Below is a list of the key volunteer roles for our soccer program. If you'd like to volunteer for one one these positions, please email Ian at [email protected].

- Soccer Coordinators (Ian, currently) -- represents the community’s interest on the South East Zone Board; attends periodic board meetings and votes on resolutions, supports team formations, liaising with other SE zone directors. If interested in serving in this position (light responsibility), please contact Ian at [email protected].
- Referees
The program is thankful for local business support in the past, and always welcomes sponsorship support.
Outdoor Refereeing
Interested in becoming (or returning as) a referee? The zone uses referees for U9 games and up. Information on two upcoming Alberta Soccer Association certification / refresher courses include:
Mini Referee Course – The course will certify students to referee U9 and assistant referee U11+. Students must be at least 12 years of age.
Entry Level Course – This course is open to children age 14 and up. It is a two-day course to certify referees to referee or assistant referee at all levels. Once a referee has the Entry Level Course, they will have to take just a three-hour refresher each year to continue refereeing. Date and location to be confirmed, upon registration.
