The summer playground program is happenning again this summer.  Activities aimed at kids 6 to 12 will be happening at the park from July 3 to August 23.  Mon-Thur 10am-5:30pm and Fridays 1:30pm to 5:30pm.  This is a free program for all kids living in Bonnie Doon.

The spray park will be open from 10am to 8pm daily, weather permiting.

We have 187 players playing soccer in U4, U5, U8, U10, U12 and U16.

New Kids On Your Block: Connecting the next generation of community leaders.  The Edmonton Federation of Community League is hosting this event on May 31.  Please attend if you want more information.  Visit this site to learn more.

LRT planning:

On Thursday, June 14, 2012 there will be a consultation meeting for the design of the LRT from Strathern to west downtown.  You are invited to attend at the Old Timers cabin on 99th Street.  For more information visit the city of Edmonton website.

June 3rd will be Bonnie Fest, come meet your neighbors on the street between Campus Saint Jean and Rutherford school.

Coming in the last week of June our soccer party (all are welcomed), September is Dinner on us, October the I've outgrown it sale, in November our Christmas party.  If you would like to be involved with any of these activties please contact the league.

The Bonnie Fest volunteers have been busy as beavers, preparing another fun day for Bonnie Dooners. Kids can check out the bouncy tent or the hot air balloon. So sad to report that Alex Thomas-Haug's body was found Saturday morning, in Mill Creek Ravine near 91 St & 74 Ave.

There is no news re Alex Thomas-Haug, age 24. The Edmonton Police Service have issued this media release.

Alex Thomas Haug of 93rd Street has gone missing, according to postings on Facebook and engaged Riverdalians.

Last seen/heard Monday May 14 at 4:36am in the Ritchie neighbourhood.

Height approx 6 feet, 145 lbs, red hair, blue eyes, Caucasian, wearing black pants, black t-shirt, black hoodie and black cap.

From the City, released today: Due to shoring system removal, the following closures will take place from 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 until 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 13:

• No access to the Low Level Bridge via either McDougall Hill or Rossdale Road
• No access to McDougall Hill via the Low Level Bridge

Access to Grierson Hill northbound from the Low Level Bridge will remain open. Motorists are advised to detour using alternate routes. The City of Edmonton greatly appreciates and thanks drivers for their patience.

Thank you, Bonnie Dooners, for coming out for Sunday's clean up of the north end of Mill Creek Ravine. More than a hundred people came out to clean up garbage ranging from antique wash tubs to cigarette butts! Thanks also to the hundred more who joined the south ravine's inaugural clean up all the way to Argyll Road. Many thanks to Hazeldean's Simon Slater, Dallas (who did a beautiful job on the poster) and the rest of the gang to the south for taking that on.

Kudos to Kevin Moore and the City's River Valley Cleanup campaign for providing the bags, gloves and giant tweezers for picking up anything and everything! Many thanks also to the Strathcona Community League and to Save-On-Foods for providing food for the BBQ, and to Carrie Ellinger from NET for providing the huge BBQ (and breaking a finger during the process) and for driving it and the food to the picnic site.Thanks also to Herb Taylor for helping carry water and distributing clean up paraphernalia at the Peace Mile Rock.

Special thanks to the half dozen constables who showed up and patrolled the ravine and later cooked & served hot dogs, to Bonnie Doon resident Vital Oullette for making and tending the fire, to Strathcona's Jan Olsen for sitting at the meeting point for two hours, to Bonnie Doon's Stacey Drysdale whose double stroller was used to haul all the bags and gloves to the meeting point. Special thanks to BD's Astrid Blodgett and The Keepers' Nancy Rempel for spearheading the clean-up, purchasing and arranging the food and the  communications. Thanks also to BD President Mark Gordon and sign gal Karen Doucet for spreading the word and to everyone for coming out, getting dirty and hauling out all variety of trash from the woods and creek. Our urban gem looks great and it is a wonderful thing to give back to a place that provides so much serenity to us all.
