The streets of Bonnie Doon are undergoing a much-needed facelift this summer. The Bonnie Doon Community League is hoping to bring some renewal to our community skating rink. We have started planning and raising money to replace our almost 60-year-old skating rink.
Community members have raised concerns about the rink's rotting boards and broken fencing. Given the popularity of the rink, the board decided it was time to replace the aging rink. It will cost approximately $130,000 for a new rink plus an additional $70,000 to replace the rink lights. The rotting wooden boards will be replaced with fibre glass boards, new fencing will be placed above the boards and new lighting will be installed if the budget allows.
Grants have been applied for to complete this project and we are optimistically hoping for a fall construction date.
As a fundraiser, we are also selling advertising space along to boards to businesses who would like to sponsor this project. If you know of a business that might be interested in sponsoring our new rink or would like to know more, please contact Stephanie at [email protected].
