Highlights from the meeting of the Bonnie Doon Community League Board of Directors

Barb Neal, from the Seniors Committee updated the Board on the upcoming History Tea and History Walking Map project. She distributed advance copies of the circa 1950 map: very interesting! The Memories of Boon Doon book will be available at Supper’s On Us scheduled for Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Plans were put in place to make some minor renovations to the Hall: new safety doors, better insulated and sound-proof windows and an air-conditioning unit. A noise meter will be installed and the contracts for Hall renters will outline noise control expectations. The moratorium on weekend rentals was lifted.
Treasurer Daniel Kaliel presented a draft budget that was approved by the Board and will be presented to the community at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The AGM will take place in the Hall on Sunday, April 29, 2-4pm. VP, Programmes, Secretary, Social and Civics are up for re-election this year. All welcome!
The Board is hoping to run a ‘Shredding event’ at the same time as the AGM.
The newly elected Board will conduct a strategic planning exercise on June 9.
The Board was happy to receive reports of a very well attended skate party, pot-luck and movie night. The rink is now closed for the season. The mini-rink and skate-path were enjoyed by users. Plans were made to get the mini-rink open earlier next year and include some lighting. Thank you to all the volunteers that make these community events possible!
