Our Vision for Bonnie Doon (where we want to be in the future)
Bonnie Doon is a vibrant community, where all residents feel included and connected.
The community’s strength is based on:
- a central location with access to nature (Mill Creek Ravine and the river valley), downtown and Whyte Avenue
- pedestrian-friendly; easy to walk to various gathering places
- mature trees throughout the neigbourhood
- mixed composition of age, culture, income and housing styles
- the important role of French language and culture
- a rich history that is still shared
- compassionate residents who care about and regularly interact with one another
Our Mission (from 2015 through 2018; what we do on an ongoing basis working towards achieving our vision)
The Bonnie Doon Community League plays a central role in strengthening our community. Its primary function is connecting residents with their neighbours by offering engaging programs and events and by promoting resources inside and outside the community. It also serves as a conduit, providing information residents need to know and acts as a voice regarding interests or concerns of the community.
Guiding Values and Principles (what guides us in everything we do):
Drawing on resident input, the BDCL considers the following values and principles when making decisions:
- Inclusive – representing and involving all residents and businesses in Bonnie Doon
- Proactive – striving to fill a leadership role in addressing issues and promoting opportunities
- People-focussed – the Board’s core purpose is to strengthen human connections in the community
- Respect – communication with community members and stakeholders is clear and respectful
- Responsible – Board governance is based on transparency and solid financial management
