"The Garden is located on League's grounds alongside the hockey rink and across the street from the Bonnie Doon Leisure Centre & Tennis Courts. With a small playground close by for young children, it is a nice relaxing spot to garden, visit with passers-by and enjoy the outdoors." [Idylwylde website article]

Hello Gardeners!
At our last meeting we set all our dates for the 2015 season. If you haven’t come out to a meeting yet there is still time to get involved, so pack up your friends and family and head on down! Here they are:
Saturday May 9 at 10AM will be our big dig. We need to mix up our soil with some leaves and compost, then let it rest for 2 weeks. We will also be starting to plan volunteer watering shifts so bring your schedules to sign up for a couple of shifts a month!
Saturday May 23 at 10AM will be our big plant. This will be the day that we get everything in the ground.
Note: For our 2 gardeners that are grandfathered in to private beds, your beds must be planted before or during this event or they will be forfeited to the communal garden.
Regular garden work bees/meetings/hang outs happen once a month during the summer and into the fall. We will discuss anything relevant to how the garden is going, as well as do some work on the beds. Snacks will be provided, and we will try to get refreshments too! The dates for these are as follows:
- June 6 at 10AM
- July 4 at 10AM
- Aug 1 at 10AM
- Sept 5 at 10AM
- Oct 3 at 10AM – This day will be our clean up. The last growing day of the year is September 30th, so we will need to get all the remaining produce and plants out of the ground by this date (Oct 3)
- Oct 20 at 7pm – This will be the AGM for the year. If we can have a solid group of 10 gardeners this year, we can go forward with expansion of phase 2 of the garden. This will give us double the growing space, so bring your friends and neighbours out to the garden this year!
I can’t wait for this year to get off the ground, I think it’s going to be great! If you can’t make it on May 9 or 23 and would still like to volunteer by watering or weeding from time to time, please let me know and I will put you on the schedule.
See you all soon!
Marcus
