As part of the Bonnie Doon Neighborhood renewal project, a new sidewalk will be constructed on the south side of [Connors Hill Gospel Hall], along 93 Avenue between the existing boulevard ash trees and the [church]. This space is currently occupied by two City owned spruce trees.
The original project plan included relocating these spruce trees within the community. After further inspection and analysis it has been determined that these trees cannot be relocated without causing significant damage to the adjacent boulevard ash trees.
As per the City’s Corporate Tree Management Policy, the project will provide compensation for the loss of the two spruce trees. These funds will be used to plant five more trees within Bonnie Doon, generating urban forest growth in the neighborhood.
We are interested in hearing from residents of the Bonnie Doon neighborhood about ideas for locations where these trees could be planted, or what species’ would be desired.
