The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta plans to operate a residence at 8533 90 Street (Residence Assomption). The Society writes that the residence, "will offer programs for recently hospitalized individuals with a mental illness, who have the potential to develop skills for independent living. This 21 tenant facility is supervised 24 hours a day. Individuals participate in a full range of psycho-social rehabilitation activities while living in a residential setting. Tenant services include 24-hour supervision, medication monitoring, life skills training, assistance with activities of daily living, recreational and support programs as well as community resource referrals."
The Society invites Bonnie Doon residents to attend a community consultation meeting Tuesday, April 30. You will be able to ask questions about the facility at the meeting and to learn of the Society's efforts to craft a "Good Neighbour Agreement" that will guide their relations with nearby Bonnie Dooners.
