The idea to set up the walking meet ups came from the Abundant Communities Initiative, where block connectors find out what activities their neighbours are interested in. Our Abundant Communities coordinator Marie-Danielle Lemm is initially co-ordinating and is asking for feedback on:
- What days and times work best for you to go walking (weekdays, weekends, mornings, afternoons, evenings...),
- Starting point (Bonnie Doon Hall, Rutherford School, any other landmark you can think of)
- Whether you are willing to help organize walks. This would mainly involve sending out emails.
Astrid Blodget has started a Monday morning walk through the ravine starting at 8:30 a.m. at the entrance to Mill Creek Ravine on 93 Avenue just west of 95 Street. (From the north end of Bonnie Doon park, walk toward the ravine.)
This is for *fast* walkers! Estimated return trip from 93 Ave to 76 Ave is 50-60 minutes (pre-snow).
Please e-mail Astrid to let her know if you'll be joining the walk, [email protected].
By the way, the City has produced a walking map of the area (PDF).
