La Cite Francophone is proud to present visual art exhibits in the Galerie Cite space. Galerie Cite is located within the first and second floor public spaces at La Cite Francophone, 8627 Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury (91 Street). The Galerie Cite project provides unique opportunities to explore the art and cultural heritage of the Bonnie Doon neighborhood in Edmonton through visual art programming.
INCANDESCENSE is a collaborative art installation created by Patrick Arès-Pilon and Tim Rechner. The artists have been conceptually and physically creating this installation over the past two years. Galerie Cité is the perfect venue for this artwork, with its connection to the Edmonton French community. The artists employ analog (old school) methods of creating artwork, in the dark room and in the studio. Both artists work instinctively and directly making use of subconscious brain activity. Automatism is an important resource. Brakhage, Borduas, Riopelle, Barbeau, Basquiat and Man Ray are important influences.
