Bonnie Doon Seniors voted “Debris” as the best of the three films we watched at the Bonnie Doon Hall in November. This was a contemporary film, 15 minutes long, about an artist from the Tofino area who creates a tribute to the 2011 earthquake and tsunami victims from the Tohoku region in Japan. If anyone is interested, it is available, without charge, at the NFB website.
The group gets together on Thursday, December 15 at 10:30 at Bonnie Doon Hall (wheelchair accessible). There is no charge for the film and everyone is welcome to stay for a light lunch for $2. We are watching Rosies of the North, a story about the thousands of Canadian women who worked near Thunder Bay, building aircraft in the 1940’s. We will also enjoy a few short animations…maybe even something about Christmas.
We are also selecting films for the new year; mark your calendars for January 12, February 9 and March 9 in 2017.
