An Edmonton-based property development company owns the Sisters of Charity buildings in our community (91 Street, south of La Cité and opposite the Campus Saint-Jean. That company has engaged a local consulting firm to create ideas for developing the property. The consultants invited the League to their offices where our Civics Chair, Ed Keding and President, Mark Gordon, met with them on September 4. The development company has asked for the Community League’s input before committing themselves to specific development plans.
Frankly, the League does not have a clear policy on development and we told the consultants that. The League knows that large development projects have the potential to make Bonnie Doon a nicer place to live -- or to exacerbate problems with traffic, parking, green space, etc.
